Ocean Beach

At the end of Whangarei Heads Road, is Ocean Beach, a favourite with the surfers and sun worshipers. It is a beautiful long white sandy beach.

There are lots of activities to do at Ocean Beach, surfing, boogie boarding, body surfing, swimming, snorkelling, lots of room to make sandcastles, go fishing off the rocks, beach volley ball, running, jogging or just walking on the pristine white sand.

There is also a good sand dune at the northern end of Ocean Beach. Great views of the Hen & Chick’s can be seen on from the shoreline. On several occasions we have seen dolphins playing close to shore.

There are lifeguards over the summer holidays and flags indicate the safest places to swim.
