Smugglers Bay. At end of Urquhart Bay Road the Bream Head Scenic Reserve can be found. At the entrance to the reserve there is a DoC information board showing maps of the walking tracks on the reserve. You will need to wear good foot wear as it can be muddy and slippery at times, especially after rain. We take regular visits to Smugglers Bay with the children. It is a relatively easy walk through grazed reserve land. The children love this walk as they get to say hello to the cows as we pass them. It takes about 20 mins, longer if you need to chat to the cows! Track to Gun Emplacement, Bushy Head. As you progress up the saddle there are great views of Bushy Head, the gun emplacement, Mt Mania and Urquhart Bay. View of Mt Manaia for Wool Shed Bay and track Smugglers Bay View of Smugglers Bay as you reach the top of the saddle.
Smugglers Bay As you get to the top of the saddle and head down towards Smugglers Bay there are great views of the ocean, Hen Island and Sail rock. Its is a sandy beach, it is not a particularly busy beach, as a lot I presume are put off by the track down or they are not aware of it. This Bay is a great place for a quiet family picnic, building sand castles, swimming or just relaxing on the beach enjoying the peace and quiet. You can also anchor your boat off the beach and spend the afternoon on the beach. View of Bushy Head Track from Smugglers Bay. Smugglers Bay. Great views of the Hen & Chicks and Sail Rock.
