Breakaway Retreat Environmental Policy

Welcome to Breakaway Retreat.

We are pleased you have to chosen to stay with us at Breakaway Retreat. We at Breakaway Retreat are dedicated to limiting our ecological footprint on the environment. To help us reduce our carbon footprint we encourage you to:

Reduce our waste by recycling cans, tins, plastic, glass, bottles, cardboard and paper in the green recycling bin provided.

Reduce the amount of waste going to landfill by separating it for recycling and compositing. There are two bins supplied in the kitchen. One for inorganic waste and one for organic waste. The organic waste is placed in our compost bin and feed to our chickens.

Reduce energy consumption by turning off lights or equipment when not in use.

Reduce energy consumption by using the solar panels to heat our hot water supply.

Reduce energy, water consumption and the impact of using detergents on our environment by having Breakaway Retreat serviced on a 3 day basis rather than daily cleaning.

Bedding and towels are washed onsite, this means we can reduce transporting cost and therefore CO2 emissions as well as reduce unnecessary traffic.

Water conserving toilets have been used in the Breakaway Retreat.

When planting we choose native trees that encourage birds to Breakaway Retreat.

We are planting more fruit trees to become more sustainable.
